Boon’s solutions can be priced weekly, monthly or even hourly to extend coverage to almost any employee. We offer industry leading affordable benefit plans backed by national carriers, as well as self-funded programs for most companies.

We specialize in industries such as

  • Custodial
  • Food service
  • Restaurants
  • Assisted living
  • Staffing
  • Security
  • Construction
  • Retail
  • Car dealerships

and other industries where employer contribution is limited.

Minimal Essential Coverage (MEC) Solution

Minimum essential coverage (MEC) plans offer a self-funded group plan with the minimum amount of essential coverage that employers are required to offer individuals in order to avoid Penalty A under the Affordable Care Act (ACA)*. Boon’s MEC plans offer the value of:

  • Low-cost ACA compliant option
  • In-network preventative/wellness services
  • Enhancement options to offer additional medical coverage with the same ID card
  • Flexibility to use a network, reference-based pricing, or a combination of the two

*Does not satisfy the employer shared responsibility requirement to offer affordable health insurance that provides minimal value necessary to avoid Penalty B

Minimum Value Plan (MVP)

Boon’s minimum value plan (MVP) is a low-cost, self-funded group medical plan that satisfies the ACA’s Employer Shared Responsibility requirements. It’s designed primarily to provide coverage for outpatient services with an emphasis on cost control of the pharmacy and hospital components of a healthcare plan.

Highlights of our minimum value plans include

  • Preventative/wellness services
  • Flexibility to use a network, reference-based pricing, or a combination of the two
  • Emergency room services
  • Hospitalization (room & board only)
  • Diagnostic testing
  • Prescription drugs

Self-Funded Major Medical

Boon’s self-funded major medical plans are designed for hourly and variable hour employees. With several funding mechanisms available to employers, our plans are built in a way that limits employer exposure while providing low deductibles and out-of-pocket costs to
the employee.

Fixed Indemnity Plan (FIP)

Fixed indemnity plans provide first dollar medical coverage for employees facing out-of-pocket medical costs. Boon’s fixed indemnity programs meet the needs of both part-time and full-time employees, and can be offered at a weekly, monthly, or hourly cost. While fixed indemnity plans do not offer the same amount of coverage in a major medical plan, they provide reimbursement for prescription drugs, doctor visits, and the unexpected emergency room trip — all with the strength of a nationwide network.

Highlights of the fixed indemnity plans include

  • First dollar benefits for outpatient services
  • Lab work
  • Network Access
  • Prescription drugs
  • Accident and hospital Indemnity coverage
  • Vision and Dental

Dependent-Only Coverage

Similar in nature to our fixed indemnity plans, our dependent-only options can be fully insured or self-funded. This type of coverage offers first dollar payments for dependent medical expenses. This solution provides much needed coverage, in instances where traditional major medical insurance is not a financial option. Dependent-only coverage can help employees offset the out-of-pocket costs associated with insuring family members with other health coverage, such as spousal coverage or an exchange-based benefits program.

Highlights of Boon’s dependent only coverage include

  • First dollar benefits for outpatient services
  • Lab work
  • Network Access
  • Prescription drugs
  • Accident and hospital Indemnity coverage
